Cold heading has some advantages over other processes that you don't know about. What are these advantages?

1. Save raw materials. Cold heading processing is to use the plastic deformation of metal to make the desired shape parts, so it can greatly reduce the cutting and improve the utilization rate of materials. The utilization rate of cold heading materials can generally reach more than 80%.
 
2. Improve labor productivity. Using cold heading technology instead of cutting to manufacture parts can increase productivity several times, dozens of times, even hundreds of times.
 
3, the workpiece can obtain the ideal surface roughness and dimensional accuracy. The precision of the parts can reach IT7 ~ IT8 class (0.015-0.022mm)(6-10), and the surface roughness can reach R0.2 ~ R0.6. Therefore, the parts processed by cold extrusion are rarely cut again, and only need to be finely ground at particularly high requirements.
 
4, can process the shape of complex, difficult to cut parts. Such as profiled section, complex inner cavity, inner tooth and surface invisible inner groove.
 
5, reduce the cost of parts. Because cold heading processing technology has the advantages of saving raw materials, improving productivity, reducing cutting amount of parts, and using poor materials instead of high quality materials, the cost of parts is greatly reduced.
 
6, improve the mechanical properties of parts. The strength of the parts is much higher than that of the raw materials due to the hardening of the metal after cold heading and the reasonable distribution of fiber streamline in the parts. In addition, reasonable cold heading technology can form compressive stress on the surface of parts and improve the fatigue strength. Therefore, some parts that need heat treatment can be processed by cold heading without heat treatment process, and some parts that need to be made by high strength steel can be replaced by low strength steel after cold heading process.
